And here we are on day three. It has been an interesting 3 days so far. Even though I enjoy Bible studies. I am surprised by difficult it has been to write about my prayer life. And sharing it with all of you has been a very interesting to say the least. Anyways….
Day 3 Prayer:
Immaculate Virgin of Candelaria, you did not doubt in giving your Son Jesus to Simeon who held him in his arms, knowing how he prayed in the temple for the grace of seeing the Redeemer. Pray that we, too, may desire to have Jesus in our hearts, like Simeon. You would willingly give him to us. May your will be done. Amen
Doubt….I have been having a lot of that lately. What is interesting, that not doubting yourself is protection from poverty in away. Or at least a coping mechanism. This prayer is referencing Luke Chapter 2. Simeon was considered “righteous and devote” (25). The Holy Spirit was with him (prior to the Pentecost) (verse 25 NIV). God had promised him that before he died he would see the Messiah and God of course kept his promise. Based on the chapter Simeon was elderly and it seemed like all hope was lost. But because of his faith he was able to receive the Holy Spirit he was able to hold Jesus in his arms and die in peace. What I took away from day 3 was that if we desire Jesus we will be successful. Our faith allows us to take the risks and leaps we need in order to become the best person we can be. We are asking the Virgin to help us receive Jesus and elevate doubt in our hearts.
