Day Four Prayer:
Immaculate Virgin of Candelaria, on presenting Jesus at the temple, you heard the announcement of sorrows and you accepted them as God’s will. May we not be the sword and the evil that would cause you to weep. Pray for us that we, too, may accept pain and sorrow in our life. Amen.
I have to say that day four’s prayer was more intense. After saying the prayer all I could was silently contemplate its meaning. “Hearing the announcement of sorrows and accepting them as God’s will.” I think that deep down we all have a problem dealing with this particular issue. I feel it is one of our struggles of being human. “Pray for us that we too may accept pain and sorrow in our life”. In AA’s Big Book, “Acceptance is the answer to all my problems”; but how does this relate back to protection against poverty and illness?
2 Corinthians 8:12 “For the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has not according to what one does not have”
The protection from poverty and illness is to accept what I have. So as I interrupt it (and I would love to hear what you have to say) I have a healthy body that I should accept and keep it healthy. Also if I am happy what I have I will truly see the blessings, that has given me.
